Learn-to-Surf Holidays in Spain for Beginners
Most learn-to-surf holidays point you at Bali, Costa Rica or Sri Lanka — long flights and long money. You do not need any of it to catch your first wave. Green Spain has wide, beginner-friendly Atlantic beaches an hour's flight from the UK.
Where do beginners surf near Casa Agara?
The soft, sandy beaches of the Cantabrian coast, roughly half an hour from the house — the kind of gentle, rolling white water beginners actually want, in gorgeous, uncrowded surroundings rather than a packed surf camp.
When is the best time to learn?
Summer, from around June to September, when the swell is smaller and the water warmest — the most forgiving conditions for a first lesson. Wetsuits are worn year-round here even in summer, and the schools provide them.
Is it a surf-only holiday?
Not at all — this is the joy of it. Surf a morning, walk the coast or the forest in the afternoon, and share a proper dinner at night. A hosted week means the surf is one lovely part of a fuller, gentler holiday.
Do I need to be fit or young?
No — beginner lessons take all ages and abilities, with stable boards and gentle waves. If you can swim, you can start.
