Q: What protection do I get?

Spice Escapes hold ATOL protection (licence 9046), which covers flight-inclusive packages under the UK's Air Travel Organiser's Licensing scheme — if a licensed operator were ever unable to complete your trip, ATOL exists to get you home and refund you. Always check for the ATOL certificate at the point of booking, as you would with any UK travel operator.

When you join a scheduled week at Casa Agara — or a Walkwise walking week in the same valley — your enquiry, your dates, your payment and your protection are all handled by Spice Escapes, our exclusive booking partner. We host the house and the region; Spice runs the booking desk, the contracts and the financial protection behind every trip.

That's a deliberate choice, not a formality. A small, hosted venue and a small walking specialist are exactly what we're good at — running an ATOL-licensed booking operation, a real contact line and thousands of bookings a year is a different job, and Spice have been doing that job for a long time.

Who exactly handles your booking?

Spice Escapes is the travel arm of Spice Social, a UK social club that has run hosted group holidays for over 45 years. They handle thousands of bookings every year, across dozens of trips — walking weeks, city breaks, cruises, skiing and more — not just the weeks held here.

What protection do I get?

Do I have to come with someone, or join Spice as a member first?

No. You can book as an individual, and you don't need to be a Spice Social member first — booking creates your account there and then. Spice offer a twin-share service for solo travellers: they'll match you with a same-sex room-mate at no extra charge, or you can take a room of your own for an optional supplement. There's no forced single supplement — you choose.

How do I actually book?

Every "Book now" on a Casa Agara or Walkwise week takes you straight into Spice's real booking system — the same dates, prices and live availability they sell directly, without leaving an agara.es-branded page. You choose your dates and any extras, give your details and pay securely; Spice's team then confirm your place and stay your point of contact for anything booking-related from there.
