The Best Walks Near Casa Agara, Graded Easy to Challenging
One of the joys of a hosted week is having the best walks worked out for you. Here is an honest, graded shortlist of what is on the doorstep at Casa Agara, in and around the Saja-Besaya reserve.
The easy days
- Fuente Clara loop — 7.5 km. A gentle forest circuit, good legs-stretcher for a first day.
- The San Vicente coastal path — about 11 km, flat and easy. Sea the whole way, boardwalk sections, hard to get lost.
The middling days
- Alto de La Guarda — 8.5 km. A satisfying circuit with a bit more up and down.
- Bárcena Mayor to Los Tojos — about 15 km. Linear forest walking to and from one of Spain's prettiest stone villages.
The bigger days
- Bárcena Mayor to the Pozo de la Arbencia — around 20 km. A proper forest day crossing the Río Argoza past waterfalls.
- The Puertos de Sejos — high pasture, 600–900 m of climb. A real mountain day; genuinely challenging, not to be underestimated.
